Start by finishing Vor's Prize, then work toward the next Star Chart Junction while upgrading a small set of useful Mods. Build one dependable loadout before trying to collect everything. Your next quest and the tasks displayed on your next Junction provide a practical route through the opening game.

This guide follows the official New Player Guide, with progression changes checked against later patch notes on October 13, 2026. The session plan below is editorial advice for ordinary progression; it does not promise a fixed number of hours to reach endgame.

01

Choose a starter you want to play

Excalibur, Mag and Volt are the opening Warframe choices. Excalibur suits someone interested in sword combat, Mag offers magnetic control, and Volt offers electrical abilities and speed. You can acquire the others later, so this choice does not permanently lock your account into one role. The official Quick Start guide describes their broad identities.

Choose the one whose basic combat loop appeals to you. Learning when to move, when to cast and how to follow objectives matters more at this stage than an argument about an endgame tier. If you already selected a starter, continue with it. Restarting your account to change this decision adds work without solving weak Mods or unfamiliar controls.

Try both shooting and melee during the tutorial. Give yourself room to learn movement: cross a room, change direction, aim at an enemy and reach the next objective without getting stuck. Check your own control bindings rather than copying a keyboard instruction while playing on a controller.

02

Finish the tutorial before planning a farming route

Vor's Prize introduces the tools you will use between missions. After completing it, locate the Arsenal, Navigation, Foundry and Mods console. Think of these as a connected loop: choose a mission, bring appropriate equipment, collect rewards, then use those rewards for the next improvement.

Before leaving the Orbiter, name one objective for the session. Good early examples are completing an active quest step, opening the path to a Junction, or collecting a missing material for a blueprint already owned. “Get stronger” is too broad to tell you what to select on Navigation.

If the quest asks you to use a particular console or item, follow that instruction first. A general farming video may assume systems you have not unlocked. The official quest guide provides a reference when you need the next story prerequisite without searching through unrelated late-game advice.

03

Use Junctions to organize Star Chart progress

Open your next Junction and read each requirement. Complete the connected mission nodes needed to reach it, then address the specific tasks it lists. This approach opens new resources and quests while giving you a series of manageable targets.

Your current problemUseful next action
A destination is inaccessibleFollow the connecting nodes and inspect its Junction
A quest cannot startRead that quest's displayed prerequisites
A mission is taking too longUpgrade the weapon Mods you already use
You repeatedly lose healthReview movement, survival Mods and defensive abilities
A blueprint lacks a resourceCheck its region, then choose an unlocked mission there

Avoid treating an old planet-by-planet checklist as permanent. Update 39 changed several Junction tasks and made Natah unlock after The Archwing. Its new player changes also replaced the old requirement to find and scan random Oculysts to trigger Natah. Follow the current quest step, including any scanning tutorial it provides.

04

Upgrade a few useful Mods first

Equipment rank and an effective build are different things. A higher-rank weapon has room for more Mod investment, but empty capacity does not help you kill enemies. Visit Upgrade in the Arsenal and inspect what each installed Mod actually changes.

A sensible early weapon plan is to improve a damage Mod you use, add compatible elemental damage, and then consider other benefits that suit that weapon. A rifle and a shotgun use different Mod families, so a guide for one cannot be copied onto the other. For your Warframe, keep enough survivability and energy comfort to finish the mission before chasing an extreme ability statistic.

The official Mods Guide explains capacity, polarity and Fusion. Check the total cost after every upgrade: a ranked Mod can stop fitting into a loadout that previously worked. Leave optional slots empty if filling them would prevent your important Mods from fitting.

Our builds guide turns this into a repeatable upgrade process. If you lack the upgrade currency, start with the Endo guide.

05

Craft toward a specific goal

Open the blueprint before farming. Write down what you own, what is missing and where the missing item comes from. Several different materials can look like “the one resource I still need,” especially Neural Sensors and Neurodes, so use the exact name.

Plan around one next weapon or Warframe component rather than starting a shopping list of ten unrelated projects. This keeps you from farming a resource that belongs to a much later planet while a simpler upgrade is already available. Check whether the Market entry offers a blueprint and read its cost before assuming an item requires Platinum.

Argon Crystals need special planning because they decay in inventory. Collect the other ingredients first and use the Argon farming route when you are ready to start construction. For more persistent bottlenecks, see Neural Sensors and Tellurium.

06

Let daily tasks support your main route

Nightwave provides daily and weekly challenges. Read the available tasks and choose those that overlap with your current goals. If a challenge points to a system you do not recognize, it is reasonable to continue your quest route first.

A simple session can include checking the Foundry, reviewing an achievable Nightwave task, progressing a quest or Junction, and spending the resulting resources on one useful upgrade. This is a suggested routine, not a requirement to complete every recurring activity.

Avoid evaluating your progress against an experienced player's full weekly checklist. Their rewards may depend on late-game access, upgraded equipment and knowledge you are still building. Unlocking the next part of the game can be more valuable than repeatedly farming an inefficient early node.

07

Fix the actual reason a mission fails

After a failed attempt, identify the failure. If the objective dies while you survive, bring control or protection and stay near it. If enemies take too long to kill, review the weapon build. If you run out of energy, use abilities more deliberately and consider energy-related Mod choices. If you become lost, practice that mission type at a comfortable difficulty.

Change one important thing and try again. Replacing your entire loadout makes it harder to learn what helped. Once ordinary missions feel stable, use the Warframe tier list to choose a role and the weapon recommendations to fill a gap in your equipment. You will make better choices when each new item has a job.
